Terms & Conditions (User Agreement)
Effective Date: 2025-10-17
Last Updated: 2025-10-17
1) Who we are
CampusCompassAI (“we,” “us,” “our”) provides planning tools, cited requirement lookups, and feedback features to help applicants organize their university/college applications. We are operated by Bayesian AI Solutions Consulting Partners, based in Ontario, Canada.
2) What we offer (and what we don’t)
Our product provides general, cited planning information and feedback on user-provided text. We do not guarantee admissions, scholarships, interviews, or outcomes. You must verify all requirements and deadlines directly with official sources (e.g., OUAC/university/college websites and your school’s guidance office).
3) Acceptance
By creating an account, checking “I agree,” or using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
4) Eligibility
You must be at least 16 to create an account. If you are under 16, a parent/guardian must consent and supervise your use. Schools or counsellors creating accounts for students represent that they have appropriate consent.
5) Account & security
Keep your credentials confidential and notify us of any suspected misuse. You are responsible for activities under your account.
6) Academic integrity & AI policy
- Use our features for planning and feedback only (brainstorming, outline, clarity/grammar on your draft).
- Do not submit AI-generated content as your own application material.
- You agree to follow your school’s and each institution’s integrity policies, including OUAC/university rules.
- We may block prompts that seek ghostwriting or style-matching.
7) Content & license
- Your content. You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it solely to provide and improve the service (e.g., generate your plan, show history to you).
- Our content. We own the site, software, and datasets we create. You may not copy, scrape, or resell our content or services without permission.
- Citations. We link to official sources where possible; links may change without notice.
8) Acceptable use
You will not: (a) misuse the service; (b) attempt to bypass safety controls/rate limits; (c) upload unlawful or harmful content; (d) decompile or reverse engineer; (e) infringe intellectual property; (f) submit sensitive personal data we don’t request (e.g., SIN, health info).
9) Changes to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features (including LLM features) at any time. We’ll try to give reasonable notice for material changes.
10) Third-party services
The service uses third parties including Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting), and AI model providers. Your use may also be subject to those providers’ terms.
11) Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation or completeness/accuracy of information.
12) Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, incidental, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our aggregate liability for all claims is limited to the greater of CAD $50 or amounts you paid in the 3 months preceding the claim.
13) Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of third-party rights.
14) Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach or risk to users or systems. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends; sections intended to survive will survive (e.g., IP, disclaimers, limitations).
15) Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Venue and jurisdiction lie in Ontario courts. You and we waive class actions to the extent permitted by law.
16) Communications
By signing up, you consent to service-related communications (e.g., policy updates, security notices). You can opt out of non-essential marketing.
